Gender Revel Cupcakes

To announce the gender of my baby, I made these cupcakes.  I baked a dab of dyed blue cake batter in the middle of the cupcake.  Then topped them with blue and pink swirled frosting.  Very cute.

Ninjas

These are suppose to be Ninja Legos (I suppose the white should have been yellow.)
So fast.
Frost, add ninja mask with flat tip.
 Eyes and eyebrows.

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

Twist on cupcakes. Prepare cake mix as usual. 1 cake mix per 24 ice cream cones. Fill 2/3 full - be careful not to overfill like I did :) Bake about 20 minutes, like you would for cupcakes. Decorate the way you would like. I just used buttercream frosting and tapped into my collection of sprinkles. Easy and very cute.

Sesame Street Cupcakes

We made these for DJ's 28th birthday. Amber made Oscar and Cookie Monster. Tia, Amber's roommate, made the Elmo's. Heidi made Big Bird. We used Bugles for Big Bird's beak.  Eyes and noses were made by various candies. Used a leaf tip for Big Bird, and star tips for the others. It was so serendipitous, my life will never find happiness again.
PS- If Amber makes me write these silly descriptions, I'll give her a description.

Spiderman vs Elmo : )

My youngest two(5 and 2), both with multiple food allergies, birthdays are one day apart. We combined parties this year, celebrating with their favorite characters, Spiderman and Elmo. I came up with a sugar cookie recipe that is not only delicious to these kids, but passable to everyone else :)
(The recipe will be included at the end if anyone is interested.)

Cookies are pretty basic. Egg shaped cutter. Frost red. Add design. Does take a bit of time to make so many :)
Sugar Cookies
1/4 c milk-free margarine
1/4 c shortening
1/2 c sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
3 T oil, 3 T water, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp xanthan gum - mixed together (added all at once)
1 1/4 c - 1 3/4 c white rice flour
Roll cookie 1/4 inch thick. Cut as desired. 350 for 10-12 min on parchment lined sheet. Makes about 20.

Art Party w/Cupcakes

I'm putting this with the alternative to cakes just for those who don't want to spend the time decorating. Let your guests decorate their own cupcakes with frosting and candies. This was such a fun activity for everyone and went perfectly with our Art Themed party.
Plus, it was my daughter's favorite cake ever (she was so proud)!
