Book Cake

Nothing overly fancy. Obviously the book pages can look/say anything you want. (I suggest making a cuter bookmark than mine came out like :)

Book edge done with basket weave tip to look like pages. And don't forget a flat border to look like the book cover.

Rice Krispy Dragon

My husband and I formed this dragon for our "How to Train Your Dragon" fanatic. Made two batches of rice krispy treats. Added green food coloring to the marshmallows, before adding the krispies. The first batch, pressed into a circle pan. When firm, cut in half and stand. Second batch, formed legs, head and tail. (Grease hands well!) Added large marshmallows with chocolate chip for eyes. Oranges cut in half for toes. Gum drop nose. Tongue cut out of fruit roll-up. Wings cut out of fruit roll-ups, rolled onto skewers. (Don't add until ready to serve. They start to droop.) Spine can be any pointed candy. I think ours were jets.

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

Twist on cupcakes. Prepare cake mix as usual. 1 cake mix per 24 ice cream cones. Fill 2/3 full - be careful not to overfill like I did :) Bake about 20 minutes, like you would for cupcakes. Decorate the way you would like. I just used buttercream frosting and tapped into my collection of sprinkles. Easy and very cute.

Sesame Street Cupcakes

We made these for DJ's 28th birthday. Amber made Oscar and Cookie Monster. Tia, Amber's roommate, made the Elmo's. Heidi made Big Bird. We used Bugles for Big Bird's beak.  Eyes and noses were made by various candies. Used a leaf tip for Big Bird, and star tips for the others. It was so serendipitous, my life will never find happiness again.
PS- If Amber makes me write these silly descriptions, I'll give her a description.

Army Tank Cake

We have been understaffed at work and my fellow "front desk" ladies wanted to thank the techs for stepping in and helping. Linda came up with the idea of making a tank cake that said T'anks A Lot. I thought it was an awesome idea.

Heart Attack Birthday Cake

My sister told me that her daughter wanted me to make her birthday cake. She requested a chocolate flavored heart cake with little hearts on it. After she looked at her cake she said that it wasn't quite what she was thinking of but it was better. Well ok then :)

Something to mention about the cake was the filling. Super easy filling that Kami introduced me to. Mix a can of chocolate frosting and marshmallow creme. Very tasty.

Chocolate Cheesecake Cake Balls

Simple recipe to make Cake Balls. Use on cake mix. Bake the cake and let it thoroughly cool. Then crumble it. Mix in 3/4 of can of pre-made frosting. Shape the balls. Dip in melted candy.
I use chocolate cake mix, cheesecake frosting, chocolate candy and drizzled cherry flavored candy on the top. So tasty.
The combinations are endless. Give it a try.

Cupcake Cake Pops

The idea came from Bakerella. I got the book a few months ago because I thought the ideas were just so cute. I finally took the time to try my hand at it. Check out the website for more ideas.
